One of the main reasons for my rebrand is because I absolutely love the interiors community within social media and I feel so inspired by you all to continue our own renovation journey. This is why, as a brand designer, I’m giving you tips on how to turn your interiors hobby into a brand.
However, one thing that I notice is how easily you could turn your social media into more than just a hobby – by turning it into a brand. If you start branding your pages you’ll start to see a surge of traffic AND results (by PAID for brands and clients).
Turning a hobby into a brand sounds like a really scary thought doesn’t it? Or maybe it excites you but you just don’t know where to go with it? Follow these three simple steps to start branding your social media.
Choose a colour palette
Choose a brand palette and stick with it. Choose 5 colours within a palette and use it across your stories and your blog. Be consistent with your colours so that people will begin to recognise your stories by just seeing your palette.
Use the same fonts
Stick to the same fonts, that also goes for stories. I know that we don’t get much variation within the instagram stories for fonts but once you’ve chosen one – don’t keep mixing it up. Again, consistency is key here.
Choose appropriate highlight cover images
Choose highlight cover images that represent you and your business – because you want it to be a business right? You can start off by creating your own just by using your colour palette and uploading three fonts into Canva and creating cover photos there. I wouldn’t recommend using Canva imagery though or templates for your stories because you want to be unique (and Canva owns the copyright).
Be true to yourself as a personal brand
Stay true to you. Your brand is (or will be) around YOU. People do well by being themselves – why? Because it is what comes natural and also people buy from people. Always have that at the back of your mind.
Use storytelling to capture your audience
Storytell! Capture your audience by having a story to tell; hook your audience in … speaking of hooks, also have one within your bio to ensure people who discover you know exactly what you’re doing but are captivated straight away). By storytelling you are also getting your brand message across.
So there we have five really simple steps to begin your branding journey for your interiors or lifestyle blog/social media.
