I'm Sophie, aspirer, designer, boy mum, wife and entrepreneur. I'm passionate, motivated and most importantly I'm here to help you grow your creative business with visuals that uplevel & sell.
Today I wanted to talk to you about something really important for your online coaching or service based business… and thats about having a website homepage that converts.
Gone are the days of relying solely upon networking as a coach or service provider you also need to have a homepage that converts for you with ease. Why? Because you want people to look at your website and instantly KNOW that they want to work with you.
Yes, absolutely I’m about a beautiful website, but if it’s simply just beautiful and nothing else then you’re in a bit of a situation… one that I can help you with…
1: Have your mission statement upon your homepage
So this may seem like an obvious one, but it’s an obvious one that people often overlook. Having your mission statement at the top of your homepage will allow your audience to know that you’re speaking directly to them. They want to know ‘yes, this girl is for me’ and they’ll then begin to scroll down your page… thus, keeping them engaged a little longer and there is then more of a chance that they’ll then start to begin your trust.
2: Have CTA’s
Again, this may seem like an obvious one but so many times when I re-do clients websites I have to ask whether they’re having CTA’s … or … they ask why they’re on there because they don’t want them on. Call to action’s ALLOW your audience to be instantly directed to where they want to go. Whether this is your service, product, freebie, email list, get in touch page it is still getting your audience warmed up and potentially buying from you (or at the very least onto your email list so that you can then begin the nurturing process!)
3: Don’t overdo your offerings upon your homepage
I know, I know, it’s all too exciting and you’ve so many offerings and so much to give… but don’t! Keep your offerings really simple and have between 1-3 upon your homepage. Anymore than this and you then begin to run the risk of overwhelming your audience… they’ll then click off your website and potentially lose them to someone else. If you do have more offerings then save these for your up/downsells!
4: Include social media links
This is important because it enables your website viewer to enter your social media and begin the know, like, trust journey. If you’re consistently active upon your social media then they’ll begin to warm to you and get to know you more as a personal brand as opposed to an online coach/service provider. Always remember that people buy from people
5: Have a lead magnet
As a coach or service provider this is something that you probably already know and have… but it doesn’t mean that you already have it upon your homepage. Ensure that you have this as one of your CTA’s because it’ll get them onto your list and INTO your audience. Again, a place to nurture and grow.
and finally, 6: Have copy that converts
I’m a huge advocate of outsourcing things that are outside of your zone of genius so if copywriting is one of these things then please do get in touch with a copywriter to help you sell your services. This is a top point that I often come across when designing websites for clients… they have amazing imagery, offers but the copy just doesn’t quite cut the mustard. Your audience will be reading your website and if they’re automatically turned off or bored then they won’t be looking to become a part of your network and therefore will potentially also not want to buy from you.
I know that this may seem like a lot of things to have upon your website homepage, but they are all vital. Your website should be doing 80% of the work for you so that you can pay attention to clients and your zone of genius.
A website that converts makes running a business an helluva’ lot easier!
